WOW…These past two weeks here in Chichicastenango have flown by but also been very long! I feel like I have known my brothers and sisters in Christ on my team for years, though we’ve only been together a short time. To be honest, I feel at home here, but don’t worry family and friends I’ll be back, at least for now. Haha. The cemetery here in Chichi is so colorful and is unlike anything I have ever seen. It has the ability to make you feel a bit joyful. However, the darkness is still present because among those graves are people who are forever burning offerings and candles in hopes of receiving something such as good luck, money, or malice to others. It is sad to see these people so lost and so focused on what may never come out of the offerings they burn. Wow. I’m still in awe that I’m here in Chichi. How did I raise enough money to get here? How did I take a month off of work? How did I leave my precious kitten?? All I know is I’m so happy I did! I’ve been on two short term mission trips out of the country, but Chichicastenango feels like home. I feel like I know the community, I know the places to go to drink coffee, I know how to get to the grocery store and my favorite street quesadilla place (seriously the best in the world) without asking, but yet I also feel like I have so much more to learn from the people of...

A look into our month so far:   We arrived in Guatemala July 6 and have gotten settled into our home for the month. In the afternoons on Monday through Friday, we work in shifts at the local school- teaching them English and helping them learn a bible verse (Joshua 1:9). Our other ministry includes: prayer walks, picking up trash around the city, college nights where we worship and share a devotion or testimony, police and hospital ministry where we go to the local hospital and hand out hot chocolate to people waiting on family members inside the hospital, and soccer ministry.
