Our first month of ministry is in Kampong Cham, Cambodia working at an orphanage through the organization New Hope for Orphans. The orphanage is located out in the countryside off a little dirt road about three miles outside of town. It is warm and so very green here, which is a nice change from the snowy winter I left behind in Canada. When on previous mission trips I often times got caught up in the plan and schedule and when something went awry I would get upset and let that feeling color my experience. During training camp my team leaders encouraged all of us to make declarations; vocalizing our personal goal for our trip. My declaration is that I will allow God to take hold of my heart and have Him work through me however He sees fit because His plan is far greater than my own. Hello family and friends! We have been in Cambodia for almost a week now! After a 5 day travel day, including an unexpected layover in Malaysia (2 days for some of us), we are settled into our new home. We are living and ministering at New Hope for Orphans in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. We live in a small village with amazing people.
