He is Beautiful, and so am I

So here lately, I’ve been waking up around 5:30 a.m with some of my teammates to start our day with a Bible study. Honestly, I hate getting up out of bed at 5:30, but I love starting my day with Jesus before anything else. We have been reading the book of Matthew, and we’d really like to finish the New Testament by the time our trip ends. The lord has been reminding me of how big He is. From feeding 5,000 to letting Peter walk on water, He was always faithful. I’ve been learning so much since I started reading Matthew, it’s like the Lord opens my eyes to so many...

Meet Vandy

Our first month of ministry is in Kampong Cham, Cambodia working at an orphanage through the organization New Hope for Orphans. The orphanage is located out in the countryside off a little dirt road about three miles outside of town. It is warm and so very green here, which is a nice change from the snowy winter I left behind in Canada. We are sleeping in our own personal little treehouse (it’s actually just a cute little porch up some insanely narrow ladder-like steps). We are greeted by the joyful smiles and giggles of the sweetest kids daily, and we are fed copious amounts of...

How He Loves

Where do I begin… I came onto this trip unsure and nervous of my capability to connect with the kids I knew I would be spending my first month with. Honestly, I didn’t think I would really be able to love them and I didn’t even think they’d like me. I doubted myself each time I thought about teaching english and felt like there was almost no way I would be able to have relationships with them. Little did I know, my love for these children would be something I can now not even put into words and it has revealed even more the depth of the...

Let Go(d)

When on previous mission trips I often times got caught up in the plan and schedule and when something went awry I would get upset and let that feeling color my experience. During training camp my team leaders encouraged all of us to make declarations; vocalizing our personal goal for our trip. My declaration is that I will allow God to take hold of my heart and have Him work through me however He sees fit because His plan is far greater than my own. Those are simple words to say but far more complicated to put into practice. As someone who seeks structure and schedules, leaving things up...

Life in Cambodia

Hello family and friends! We have been in Cambodia for almost a week now! After a 5 day travel day, including an unexpected layover in Malaysia (2 days for some of us), we are settled into our new home. We are living and ministering at New Hope for Orphans in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. We live in a small village with amazing people. We have gotten to know the kids and have already fallen in love with their sweet hearts, adorable smiles, giggles, and snuggles. Nick (my awesome co-leader) and I are seriously so proud and so obsessed with our team. They are hard working, Spirit-led,...
