When asking the Lord for patience you have to be careful, because He WILL give you situations to practice patience in. I’m finding this out the hard way. I have always struggled with being patient and it’s an area that I want to grow in. Patience can look very different person to person and situation to situation. On this trip the Lord has given me PLENTY of situations to be patient in. But to be honest it’s still really hard. For me I’m impatient in almost every aspect of my life. Especially waiting to see God’s plan for me. I just want to get a head start or a glimpse into what He has in store. But sometimes if you get what God has in store for you too soon, you won’t be able to handle it. I’ve found myself praying prayers like “Lord, help” and “Lord show me what to do.” However the Lord says to trust in Him.
Abba says “Don’t be afraid” 365 times throughout the Bible. And the phrases “Trust Him” and “Let go” have been flowing through my mind for the past couple weeks. T. D. Jakes is a pastor and inspirational writer, in his book “Destiny” he writes- “There will always be a reason to put it off… you will always find excuses to wait” and this is one-hundred percent true. There is no time like the present to, “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean on not your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). God is in control and his plan is better than our own, we may not see the plan but if we trust Him and live through Him we will find our true destiny. So I encourage and challenge all of you and myself to live a destiny filled life and to not be afraid of what God has in store. This trust is what will truly satisfy our souls.
