Everyone’s Gifts are Unique

When I first arrived in Guatemala, I was terrified. I couldn’t see how God was going to use me in a country where I didn’t speak the language when so many people on my team speak Spanish. I was overwhelmed with fear of the living conditions, of the ministry and living with people I had just met. Soon after that we had kids ministry where we simply just played with the kids in Chichicastenango, which was huge encouragement for me. I love kids and I really felt used. As I was praying, I felt as though God was telling me that everyone has their gifts and evangelism is not mine, even if I did speak Spanish. I am here because he called me here and although my gifts aren’t as apparent as other people’s, that doesn’t mean I can’t be used. God really spoke to my heart and brought me peace about the whole situation. In just a week and a half I have learned so much about myself. It has given me such an appreciation for my family especially. I still miss them like crazy, but now I know more than ever how blessed I am to have them. Right now I am no longer overwhelmed with fear, but instead love. Without God I would be a wreck and I am just so thankful that I get to be here and have the opportunity to be his hands and feet!
