After over 70 hours of travel and spending the night in the Malaysian airport, my team and I arrived at our ministry site. We are working at an orphanage in Cambodia. We don’t have wifi where we are staying, but we go to a cafe about once a week. I will be updating the blog as often as I can! I’ve only been here two days but so much has already happened!
Vandy runs the orphanage where I am working. He grew up an orphan because his dad left when he was two. He grew up wondering why he wasn’t enough, or why his dad didn’t want him. Vandy wanted to make sure no other kid had to feel that way so he started New Hope Orphanage. They have been faithfully praying for the new orphanage building for 10 years. The new building has a soccer/volleyball field, a farm, and new buildings for the kids to stay in. It will be ready for everyone to move into in March!
I have had a great time getting to know all the kids (there are 45 from ages 5-18) they always laugh when we try to pronounce their names, but we are getting the hang of it! Many of them are here because their parents have died or have HIV. Being able to love on these kids and build relationships with them is amazing.
Earlier today we had a mini dance party with some of them. They love hillsong and Justin Bieber. One of the older girls taught me how to say things in Khmer (their language)
Thank you for praying for me and my team, I would like to ask you to also begin praying for New Hope Orphanage and all the kids living here.
