Strangers in the House…

We are in the “Hills” of Manipur… ( the mountains ) and I want to point out that the schools are wonderful! In their own kind of beautifulness.

The school that we are staying at has prep kindergarten- tenth grade. And only one class per grade! It’s completely amazing to witness. The upper classes have a range of students from 30-50, and they don’t change rooms!!!!

Because this school started with a prep class the kids in the village can go here. They don’t have to move away to go to a particular grade.

By saying this, when they get to the 10th grade they either have to drop out of school or go to another town that provides the upper classes. Some schools stop at the 8th grade and then they will have to come here. When they come here where will they stay?

They have a dorm for the kids from other areas to stay but they have to pay a part for it. Or the kids will stay with relatives or friends! It may be a close relative or the one you’ve never heard of before. When someone stays in a house they have to get along with the kids who are already there. And the kids of the house have to get along with them.

If they don’t have family or friends here they will have to stay in the hostel. Which they have to pay for.

If American grade schools had to do this… would it really work out? Would you send your children to a relatives house or a distant friends house to stay in for the remaining school time? Letting them live with someone else to be raised up into young adults only to see them on breaks? It is extremely hard to think about, but people in villages do it all the time.

I say this to ask for prayer for them.

The kids who have to move. The kids who has to share a bed. The parents who sends their kid away for an education. And the parent who takes the kid into their home.

I’ve lived this for 3 weeks, watching someone’s kid be in our school and seeing the parents in another village that we’ve traveled through.

I can only imagine what it feels like!

The Lord will provide a way!
