Priorities

What are your priorities?

This question has echoed in my head since hearing an amazing message at training camp.

You don’t realize how important it is to have set priorities until your life looks completely different because you are now living on a continent called Africa.

Everyday is so different from the last. Even if we are doing the same ministry over and over, it never feels the same. And it definitely doesn’t feel normal.

With each new task put in front of me I am challenged to push myself out of my comfort zone and make the most of each moment.

But I’m finding that it can be hard to focus on one specific ministry when it’s not necessarily my favorite or when I am left with an abundance of free time and feel that I shouldn’t have that on a mission trip.

Whatever the case, that’s where priorities come in real handy.

Back at training camp during the message I mentioned earlier, I was prompted to write down priorities I would keep while on the field.

I set three of them not realizing how important they would become to me.

But y’all, these priorities literally change the game.

Even when I don’t know what ministry will require, I know what I’m focused on during that ministry.

I know what the Lord is asking me to look for on random weird days, on adventure days, on travel days, and every other day you could think of experiencing while in Africa.

No matter what situation, each one of my priorities re-align me with my purpose, and that’s to grow the Kingdom by ministering to God’s heart.

I have no clue where you’re at in life, but I encourage you to set priorities according to your purpose.

Be careful not to set them according to what you are trying to accomplish because your focus will be your agenda, not God’s.

Your purpose is powerful and when focused on can literally change the atmosphere around you.

When you are focused on accomplishing the next task on your list, (I can say this cause been there done that) you easily miss out on what the Lord is doing.

No, I’m not telling you to forget about getting things done and become lazy. Please don’t.

I’m saying the purpose of your life is to beautiful and monumental to be overlooked by business.

You were made to be dangerous to the devil, but you will only be dangerous to yourself if the weapon you wield is a planner.

Things come and go constantly.

But your purpose is set in stone forever. It doesn’t change with your schedule. It’s not confused when you fail to be at your appointment 10 minutes early. And it definitely doesn’t crumble when you don’t stick to your diet (I see you closet chocolate eaters, I’m one of your kind).

Your purpose is a foundation for which to build your days upon.

And setting daily priorities according to it will solidify your purpose over and over again.

So take time to seek the purpose the Lord has for YOU specifically and pray through priorities that you can look for on any day, whether chill or chaotic.

If this helps my-OCD-self in Africa where time and schedules are not a thing, cause it’s Africa, than I’m 100% absolutely positive that this will help ya out state-side.

If you were wondering, my priorities are:

lead leaders

live relationally

walk in constant partnership (with Holy Spirit & people)

K, now it’s your turn.

Go get em my lil American tigers 😉
