Have You Ever Seen The Wonder?

Y’all! We made it to our new home for the next month about 5 days ago. I cannot express in words how stoked I am for this next season of my life. I have been waiting six months for this very moment- to be back in Guatemala, to be immersed with the beautiful people, to be greeted by the biggest smiles, to be surrounded by roaring mountains, and to see God work in mighty, mighty ways.

As we drove 4ish hours to the top of the mountain (literally), I tried taking in every single detail of Guatemala- from the painted walls, cool trees (@Channing), and billboards in the city, to the farms, animals, and people on the sides of the mountain as we continued to drive. The further we got up the mountain, the heavier the fog grew. I was worried I would lose sight of all the beauty around me, but to my surprise, I didn’t have to look too far to see the purple flowers growing through the rock wall, the mother packing food up the mountain, or the children chasing our van to say “hola!”

I remember thinking, “Wow. I never want to lose the wonder that I feel right now in this very moment,” Then Wonder by Hillsong started playing over in my mind. I suddenly felt a sweep of guilt. I heard God saying, “What about Me?”

“They forgot what He had done, the wonders He had shown them.” Psalms 78:11

How often have I looked at the wonder, the awe, and the magnitude of God and lost that feeling? Took it for granted? Even neglected it altogether?

Wow. I no longer saw just flowers growing through the rock wall, I saw God’s beauty shining through even the dullest canvases. I no longer saw just the mother packing food, I saw a selfless, hard-working child of God who is so loved, so worthy, and so beautiful. I no longer saw just children chasing the van, but I saw this city’s next generation eager to hear the words from our Father. Wow.

You don’t have to look too far to see God’s wonder; you just have to look up. Have you ever seen The Wonder?

“The whole earth is filled with awe at Your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades. You call forth songs of joy.” Psalms 65:8

So thankful for this beautiful reminder as we get started on the work God has laid before us.
