Are you crazy?

I know what you’re thinking! Why would anyone in their right mind leave their family and friends to fly across the world to a third world country to give up their whole summer? Why spend so much money to do work and serve other people? Why give up comfort and ease for hardship?

I’m glad you asked. There is actually a very specific reason I am where I am right now. His name is Jesus. The reason I’ve chosen dirt floors over my bed, fried insects over in-n-out, and strangers over my family and friends all is because of Jesus. Now I know what you’re thinking? Why is Jesus worth giving up my life for?

I’m glad you asked. Jesus found me, he loved me and he called me to himself. Let me explain, Jesus- the Sovereign God-the Almighty creator- the king of kings and Lord of Lords- came down in the flesh and lived a life free from sin. And while he was flawless and perfect He paid the penalty of the sins of the world and died a brutal and excruciating death on the cross. But here’s where the story gets good, hang in there haha, three days from being buried Jesus rose back to life, proving not even death could keep him down.

This created a way for our sinful selves to be reconciled to a perfect and holy God. Jesus paid our penalty so we could have a relationship with God. With the access to God the Father- lives are radically transformed. His love is unconditional, he lavished grace on His people, he gives peace that surpasses understanding, he guides and provides.

The reason I am on my way across the world, to give up a life of comfort and ease, is because there are people around the world who have never heard of the grace and love Christ has given all of us. They haven’t heard of His unconditional, unending and undeniable love.

When you’ve been in a relationship with the God of the universe, you know that nothing else compares. You are willing to give up everything to share this amazing thing with people you don’t even know.
